V Iberoamerican SM Prize to the trajectory books for children and adolescents

Chosen by unanimity by Alija, the Argentinian section of IBBY, as a candidate for the Andersen Award 2012.

María Teresa Andruetto was born in Arroyo Cabral (Córdoba, Argentina) in 1954. She studied Arts in the National University of Córdoba.

She is present in various catalogues and in national and international selections of books for children and adolescents, a field in which she has been working for twenty five years, having been awarded the White Ravens Prize held by the Internationale Jugendbibliothek of Munich in two occasions, as well as the Premio Banco del Libro de Caracas (Caracas Book Bank Prize). She is included in the Honour Lists of the IBBY’s International Hans Christian Andersen Prize (Switzerland). Recently she was awarded the V Iberoamerican SM Prize.

She co-founded CEDILIJ (Center for the awareness and research in the field of books for children and adolescents/Córdoba, Argentina) and has taken part of numerous municipal, provincial and national plans to foster reading.

Her work for adults was awarded the Prize for Novel from the National Arts Fund and she was a finalist of the Clarín and Sent Sovi Prizes.

She has novels, short stories, poems, essays and plays for adults.

Her work has been used as a base for short movies, musical and poetical shows, theatre adaptations and other events.
